Turkey Bacon Hawaiian Pizza

The Husband is  fond of any dishes, desserts, or breads with pineapple in it. When it comes to pizza, he won't call it a pizza without the pineapples on it.  For some, specially the Italians, this is weird.  But to each his own, right?

For the Italians and other traditionalist, adding fruits like pineapple to pizza is not acceptable. They find it disturbing and insulting for some reason I cannot comprehend. For them, pizza is supposedly savory that only uses meat or vegetables as toppings. Anything with fruits on it, including pineapples are considered either pies or tarts, and not pizza. Anyway, many variations of pizza have sprouted all over the world and are being patronized by many. There are the Asian pizzas that uses Asian and Oriental flavors like
teriyaki, there are also Japanese and Thai versions of Pizza. I've also heard of curried pizza.  No big deal, right?  People get to choose what they like to stuff in their mouths (evil grin)

Hawaiian Pizza.  It has nothing to do with Hawaii (a state in the United States).  This delicacy originated in Canada and is also popular in Australia other than the Philippines.  Hawaiian pizza traditionally contains, a tomato-based sauce, ham, cheese, and of course the pineapple.  For our version, I made use of a tomato catsup and turkey bacon as we ran out of ham.

You can use any store-bought pizza crust for convenience sake if you like.  Try my recipe :-)

Ingredients :

No Sugar-added Pizza Crust - one 8" (see recipe here )
Turkey Bacon, diced - 5 to 6 pcs
Mozzarella Cheese, grated - 150 g or as desired
Tomato catsup - 2 tbsp
Mayonnaise - 2 tbsp
Olives, sliced - as desired

Pineapple chunks - as desired

Cooking Procedure :

1. Make the pizza crust by following the recipe and procedure at

No Sugar-added Pizza Crust

2. Bake it on a pre-heated oven, 200 degrees Celsius, for at least 10 minutes
3. Remove the crust from the oven and cool it down a bit.
4.  Spread the catsup and the mayonnaise generously on the the pizza.  Do not put too much.
