Easy Steamed Chicken

Cooking through steaming is  one of those Chinese cooking way that we like.  First reason would be because, steaming is healthy and most of the nutrients in the food is retained as compared to boiling, frying, and even roasting.  Some nutrients dissolves in water, some are damaged by direct flame / heat, through steaming the food is subjected to indirect heat. Secondly, it is convenient, less complicated and easy to execute.  Most importantly, steamed food are moister and and tastier even with the use of just salt and pepper as seasoning.

So here is a very simple yet very tasty recipe of a steamed chicken.  I served this with my favorite Hokkien prawn noodle.  We will be posting the recipe for the hokkien prawn noodle later on.

Chicken Thighs - 6 pcs
Ginger, grated - 1 thumb size
Low Sodium Salt (70% less) - 3 tsp
Black pepper Powder
Green onions
Sesame or any vegetable oil - 1 tsp

Cooking Procedure :

1. Rub the chicken with the salt, ginger, and black pepper powder. Marinade for at least 2 hours
2. Place the chicken thigh on a steaming plate. Brush it with sesame oil and top it with the green onions.
3. Steam for about 20-30 minutes.

I served this with Hokkien Prawn Noodles (recipe to follow)
