Paksiw na Okra sa Bagoong

In paksiw na okra sa bagoong, the okra (ladyfinger)  is cooked in vinegar and seasoned with bagoong or fermented fish.  This is an Ilocano dish, however, we do not cook this at home since my parents are not fond of cooking with bagoong .  Once in a while, I cook this dish, since this is one of those Ilocano dishes that my husband likes so much.


Ingredients :

Okra (Lady Fingers) – 10 pcs
Bagoong Sauce – 5 tbsp
Vinegar – 5 tbsp
Ground black pepper
Water – ½ cup

Cooking Procedure:

  1. Mix the water, bagoong sauce, vinegar, ginger, garlic, and ground black pepper in a saucepan and bring to a boil for at least 5 minutes
  2. Add in the okra and cook.  (do not over cook )

Serve with steamed wholegrain red rice and enjoy :-)
