Buttered Tuna with Wasabi-Garlic Sauce






Happy new year everyone.  May 2012 be a good year to us all.  Well I’m not going to make a list of my new year’s resolution here but I do have a few of course.  You may find this too cliché and I might not be able to fulfill all of them, but I still came up with a  number of to Dos and no to Dos.  I have a few wishes too, that need divine intervention for them to come true.  I have already talked to the Almighty One Above about them.  I’m not going to say anything about them.  It’s between me and HIM.

Let’s count our blessings for the past year despite all the challenges, tragedies, problems that happened in 2011.   And let's hope for the best this year. May this year be better for all of us- better health, better finances, better and happier relationships, better resolve, better and greater adventure, and more love.

To start our new year blog, we are posting some healthy recipes we’ve done within the Christmas and New Year holidays including sinfully delicious recipes.  Let’s start with this heart healthy, low calorie, High protein fish dish that is so easy to prepare and cook.

PS:  Frederick didn't like my wasabi-garlic sauce :-( but I like it :-)
 

     BUTTERED TUNA WITH WASABI-GARLIC SAUCE
Ingredients:

Tuna - 3 slices
Butter (salted), melted - 2 tbsp
Salt - a dash per slice
Black Pepper, freshly ground


Wasabi-Garlic Sauce:

Wasabi - 1 tsp
Calamansi juice - 2 tsp
Kikkoman soy sauce - 2 tsp
Garlic, finely minced -4 cloves
Water - 60 ml
Ground white pepper - dash
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Cornstarch - 1 tsp


Cooking Procedure:


1.  Rub a dash of salt on each side of each sliced tuna.   Sprinkle with ground red, black, and white pepper on each side.  Then coat each side of the fish slices with melted butter.
2. Heat Grilling pan then pan grill tuna for not more than 2 minutes on each side (for medium rare) or 4-5 minutes if you want a well done grilled tuna

Wasabi-Garlic Sauce:

3.  Mix all of the ingredients together in a sauce pan except for the wasabi paste and let it simmer until it is thick enough as per your preference.  Adjust taste with salt as needed
4.  Cool for 2 minutes then mix wasabi paste
5.  Drizzle wasabi-garlic sauce on grilled tuna before serving

A healthier alternative for pork or beef.
