How to Fix a Too Sweet or Too Sour Dish










Do you know how to fix a dish that are too sweet or too sour?  Here are some tips:

1) If you made your sauce or soup too sweet you can add something sour to improve the taste.  A squeeze of lime or lemon or a teaspoon of vinegar will do the trick.  Or add a pinch of salt and lime/lemon/vinegar to balance the taste.

2) If a sauce or soup are too sour, then fix it with some sweetness.  Add sugar to mask the sourness or add salt and sugar to balance the taste and flavor.

3) If you don't want to use salt or vinegar, adding cream or butter to a too sour soup or sauce will give a good fix.  Protein from the cream or butter will help neutralize the taste of sourness.  However, creams or butter usually provides additional flavor.  So just use the right amount in order not to change the taste of your dish other than reducing it's sourness.
